Sam Prakel

Sam Prakel is a professional runner for adidas and volunteer assistant coach at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. In April, Prakel won his second USATF Road Mile title to go with his indoor 3000m and 1500m national titles from February earlier this year. Prakel has a mile PB of 3:50.94 and was a 2022 World Indoor Championship finalist in the 1500m. Sam attended the University of Oregon where he was a 5-time All-American, 2-time first team Academic All-American, and 2018 PAC-12 Champion in the 1500m. He graduated with a BS in biochemistry and was the PAC-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year his senior year. Prakel is from Versailles, OH and won 6 individual state championships for Versailles High School in cross country and track while being named the Gatorade Ohio Runner of the Year and won the 2012 Wendy’s High School Heisman. Sam enjoys reading, writing, cooking, music, and traveling, and is getting married to his fiancée Katie Landwehr later this year. Fun fact: Sam has broken 4 minutes for the mile 38 times.
